About the artist

Leanne Vaillancourt is a visual artist living in Ottawa. She completed a BFA in Painting & Drawing, while minoring in Film Studies at Concordia University in Montreal.  Before university she graduated from Canterbury High School, where she was enrolled their visual arts program for four years.  

Leanne has worked with a range of artistic practices but has focused on painting and drawing.  Her more recent work takes unattractive or uncomfortable subjects and makes the viewer look at them in a different way - often in a more honest light.  She experiments with changing their meaning through various methods such as abstraction of colour or a delicate touch to the subject matter.
